Industry Training Authority of BC (ITA)

ITA is a BC Crown Agency that works with employers, employees, industry, labour, training providers and government to issue credentials, manage apprenticeships, set program standards and increase opportunities in the trades in BC.

This on-line website tool is funded by the Province of British Columbia in collaboration with the Industry Training Authority and is accessible to anyone in the world. You must register as a user to access the formal assessment feature and subsequent suggested ES Enhancement Plan. The plan includes link to various free links as well as the option to access PLATO/Eskilon for a fee. This website is particularly useful for individuals who wish to enter trades training and want to know if their Essential Skills levels are currently sufficient to succeed in training.

The website is designed to be used by organizations, employers or individuals.

The website features:
1. Essential Skills profiles for approximately 60 trades-related occupations.
2. Built-in assessments to assess reading, document use and numeracy skills.
3. Individualized test result reports that highlight skills and gaps. Test results are available immediately.
4. Individualized learning plans that link to useful learning resources. All the learning resources are available on-line and free of charge.

The website includes “how to video” and user guides for use of the website. These address how to see and understand assessment results and learning plans.
