Adult Literacy and Basic Education (ALBE)

Initiative Description:

Government of the Northwest Territories’ Adult Literacy and Basic Education programs are adult upgrading programs that enable learners to move forward into post-secondary education or work opportunities. Connecting with employment and reaching personal goals is the intended outcome. ALBE is community based programming delivered in 26 communities (urban, rural and remote) in the Northwest Territories with the majority of learners being Aboriginal. Programming is flexible in order to meet the unique needs of adult participants. Embedded in the curriculum are the nine Essential Skills.
