Northern Aboriginal Training for Employment Program (NATEP)

Initiative Description: 

The NATEP program for multi-barriered clients is comprised of a three month in-class training session which includes an assisted job search component followed by a 6 month paid work experience. The program combines personal development, workplace Essential Skills training and career exploration and can have a specific focus for identified target groups: e.g., multi-barriered, semi or skilled, gender, age, pre-college or trades training preparation, etc. The program uses Aboriginal material and content, as well as traditional learning/information sharing strategies such as Sharing Circles, Elder Talks, Celebration Ceremonies and Medicine Wheel.
